Apply as an Artist

Smyrna Arts Council is building a portfolio of local and regional artists, and we hope you will apply by filling out the form below. We will reach out to you about upcoming opportunities.

Your application will be kept on file for future use in selecting artwork to be exhibited in public establishments. For each exhibit, the Community Art Committee and the sponsor will review applications, and those artists selected will sign an agreement with the Smyrna Arts Council and the sponsor.

In order to bring a wide variety of art to the community, Smyrna Arts Council’s Community Art Committee has developed a program to identify and arrange spaces for local and regional artists to display and sell their work (with 20% of sales going to the sponsor and 10% of sales to the Smyrna Arts Council).

The Community Art Committee intends to create a portfolio of local artists that can be used on an ongoing basis to bring visual arts to our community, helping to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for visual arts, while also creating a symbiotic relationship between local businesses or other organizations (sponsors) and the arts community.

The Smyrna Arts Council’s Community Art Committee will seek sponsors who are willing to exhibit works for sale. Our goal is to rotate the selection of artwork so that many qualified artists may have their work shown.

The Smyrna Arts Council will accept applications from artists who are interested in displaying their art with selected sponsors. To be considered as a potential candidate, artists must submit their completed Community Art Program Application along with three photo samples of work. The Committee will review the application and let each artist know if they have been approved to participate in the program.

Once a business sponsor agrees to host an exhibit, the Smyrna Arts Council will select artists from those who have been approved by the Committee. An appropriate number of artists/artwork will be determined based on each individual exhibit. Once artists are selected, the Committee, in partnership with the sponsor, will determine the opening day and length of each installation.

At that time, selected artists must sign the Community Art Program Agreement to participate in the exhibit.
