Join us Thursday, June 26 @oldsmyrnafirehouse for a talk by John Doane on 3D Printing As An Art Form.

John began instructing at the Spruill Center for the Arts in 2023, specializing in drawing classes that explore perspective and light sources in illustration as well as teaching an introductory 3-D printing class. Before Spruill, John was on the research faculty at Georgia Tech from 1993-2022 where he exercised his visualization skills creating many of the presentation products for his research group in Mechanical Engineering. Having lived in Atlanta for the past 39 years, he considers himself a native and loves sharing his passion for visual arts with artists in the area as well as those who travel to join in the process of learning and teaching.

Join us for a Summer Photography Crawl, a self-guided photo walk through one of the city’s most creative home and event spaces. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just getting started, this event is your chance to explore a part of Smyrna through your lens, meet fellow creatives, and capture the city’s unique character.

What to Expect:
📷 Eye-catching history and architecture, beautiful outdoor sculptures and gardens, scenic view.

👣 A relaxed walking pace with plenty of time to shoot, connect, and get inspired

💡 Creative photography prompts and live models

🎒 All camera types welcome — DSLR, mirrorless, film, or smartphone

Gallery Opportunity:
Selected photographs from the crawl will be curated and featured in a group gallery exhibition, offering participants the chance to showcase their work to the community. Details on submission guidelines will be provided during the event.

Mary Katherine on Vocals: @canadianmarykatherine blends her theatrical flair with the timeless elegance of jazz, creating a cabaret style that’s delighted audiences across Metro Atlanta.

Greg Satterthwaite on Keys: A jazz pianist, educator, and composer, @gregonkeys is a recipient of the South Arts 2023 Jazz Road award. His latest album Crossing Lines was released on Ropeadope, and he performs regularly around Atlanta.

Ramon Pooser on Bass: From his early violin days in the Atlanta public school system to Bass studies at Berkeley College of Music to performing at Carnegie Hall and playing alongside jazz legends in New York, Ramon brings a wealth of experience and talent to the stage.

Jonathan Mills on Drums: A drummer, composer, and educator, @jon_mills_drums debut album No Mention, No Worries earned a feature as Jazziz Magazine’s Song of the Day. His original compositions blend jazz, funk, rock, folk, and world music.

🎶 This intimate concert includes beer or wine, light bites, and supports the Smyrna Arts Council’s mission to enrich the community through the arts.
