Joan M. Stuart

Emeritus Board Member

Joan is a founding Board member and past President of Smyrna Arts Council.

Before moving to the area in 1984, Joan worked as a book designer for Simon & Schuster and Random House in New York and then as a features writer for the Palm Beach Post before working in advertising sales and production for Palm Beach Radio in Palm Beach, Florida. Additionally, Joan and two partners created Stuart, Gleimer & Associates, an advertising, marketing and special events agency; working often with professional theatre. While in Palm Beach, Joan was a volunteer co-founder of Palm Beach Community Players and Poinciana Children’s Theatre. 

A certified fundraising executive since 1989, Joan served as CEO and Development Director for several national and local non-profit organizations, including City of Hope National Medical Center, Center for the Visually Impaired, Vision Rehabilitation Services of North Georgia and Jewish Family & Children’s Services. Passionate about community service and volunteerism, Joan has been on the advisory council of Atlanta Theatre to Go, on the board of SOJOURN and has been an active volunteer for Keep Smyrna Beautiful, Weinstein Hospice and Center for the Visually Impaired in Atlanta.
